2020 Apra-Virginia Annual Scholarship- UPDATED!

Updated July 2020:  Apra-Virginia is proud to announce that our chapter is able to provide two scholarships to Apra Prospect Development 2020’s Advance Tomorrow: The Prospect Development Virtual Experience (August 24-27, 2020)! Please see below for eligibility and application instructions.

All current members of Apra-Virginia are eligible and encouraged to apply! Eligible applicants include any professional whose organization is unable to cover the costs of sending him/her to a prospect development conference or who does not have an organization with whom he/she is affiliated. No stipulations or restrictions regarding professional experience or tenure in the profession apply.

Primary criteria for award determination are:
• Overall quality of the application, including strength of personal statement
• Demonstrated financial need

Current Apra-Virginia board members are ineligible to receive the scholarship award. Previous recipients of this award are also ineligible.

Applicants are required to submit a recent professional resume as well as a personal statement. The personal statement should not exceed one page. Standard 10- or 12-pt font is preferred. The personal statement must address the way in which a professional conference will enhance their prospect development skills as well as the following bullet points:
• How will attendance at a professional conference impact the applicant professionally?
• How will attendance at a prospect development - related conference benefit the applicant’s organization and/or clients?
• Why would it be impossible for the applicant to attend the conference without the scholarship?

The scholarship committee is comprised of an Apra-Virginia board representative and a prior year’s scholarship recipient. The committee will make all decisions concerning the scholarship recipient. All applications received by the deadline will be distributed among the committee members for review, ranking, and final selection.

Applications will be due by August 19, 2020. Please submit your application to Kristin Richardson, President of Apra-Virginia.  The recipient will be notified the following day on August 20th.

The scholarship winner will be required to share highlights/experiences from the conference with the Apra-Virginia membership within the year following attendance of the conference. The scholarship winner will also serve as a member of the next year’s scholarship committee.

The first Apra-Virginia scholarship was awarded in 2002. The 2005 scholarship was awarded in memory of Gregory M. Gluba (University Development, College of William & Mary).
